And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding -- Daniel 2:21

From The Publisher's Desk

Evangelism is the art of bringing the love of God which is expressed in Jesus to the very soul of the lost world. This art can be demonstrated in various ways and in divers means.
Understandably, we are trying to do what we feel led b y the Spirit of God to do; and that is to the very best of our abilities though it might not be good enough. We are encouraged by the flood of testimonies we received so far from our readers. It has not been in our manners to publish testimonies but in this edition, we will print some to the glory of God. It is not our intention to publish testimonies for the exaltation and glorification of man. In all we do, let the Lord Jesus Christ increase.
I have also received some surprises sine the last edition of Reconciliation Faith was published. God has honoured me in His own way be adding additional year to my years. The members of our church took me by surprise on the 13th of October 2008 as they celebrated my birthday in a very unique way. A surprise indeed! I have never celebrated my birthday before so they tried to get me converted. It was good!
Another event that got me excited was the News in Africa 2008 Excellence Merit Award which was given to me on August 6, 2008 in the capital city of Abuja. That was another memorable event in my life. I never knew that some one took notice of our activities in such a recognizable manner. That was also good!
Remember, we are still experiencing Christ’s timely intervention in the affairs of His people. In this edition, you will see how He intervened and mended a shattered and hopeless life and turned it right side up for His glory. We will see the glory of God through the message – “The Mending of a shattered life.” It promises restoration and beauty for ashes. Read on and be wonderfully blessed.
You can also freely download the messages of past magazines and my Sunday service messages as you visit our new web-blog at http://chapnigeria.blat.co.za. Click on any area of your interest and you have them freely. We are building another website for your spiritual enrichment. Visit us at www.tfbm.net23.net . tfbm stands for The Faith Builders Ministries.
God bless you forever as you remain connected. Remember there is nothing as being reconciled to your CREATOR.

Christ’s Timely Intervention – Part two
THE MENDING OF A SHATTERED LIFE

Life as we know is temporal though some with to live on earth forever. Well, it is said that “horses were not wishes else the poor would have had one.” This translates to say that no matter how you wish and wish and wish, life still remains temporal. Yet the “temporal” life is still full of troubles. To some people, it is not only troubles, their lives are shattered and hopeless so, they “wish” to die and leave the world. Job made a statement and said: "Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble.” Job14:1 (NKJV). Well, this might not sound will to some people yet it is in the Bible.
No matter how you think the devil has messed up your life; no matter how rotten you have projected your future because of the effects of Satan’s attacks on you, be of good cheers. The Rebuilder of the broken down walls of human life and the Forth man in the fiery burning furnace of human life is still on the throne and He is the one One who can decide your case.
Today, we will take our text from the Gospel according to St. Mark 5:1-15. This passage talks about the mad man of Gadarenes.
Let us read it carefully – “Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes.
2 And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains,
4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him.
5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.
6 When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him.
7 And he cried out with a loud voice and said, "What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me."
8 For He said to him, "Come out of the man, unclean spirit!"
9 Then He asked him, "What is your name?" And he answered, saying, "My name is Legion; for we are many."
10 Also he begged Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country.
11 Now a large herd of swine was feeding there near the mountains.
12 So all the demons begged Him, saying, "Send us to the swine, that we may enter them."
13 And at once Jesus gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand); and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and drowned in the sea.
14 So those who fed the swine fled, and they told it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had happened.
15 Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.” (NKJV).
Every time I see a mad person, one question comes to my mind – Did this soul go through all the biological processes I went through to become a person? Think about that yourself for a moment before we go into the message.
All the signs and symptoms of insanity were made manifest in this man’s life. Major among them is the lost of his individuality. When a mortal man looses his volition and acts contrary, then something is wrong somewhere. If you doubt the state of this man, try to sleep in the cemetery just for a night.
His condition became so pathetic and complicated because no man could tame him. He could not be helped, no, not even by the members of his family and loved ones. He was useless (by man’s standard) and without a defined profitable future.
Another thing that baffles me in the case of this man is that he destroyed (cut) himself day and night. Can you imagine that? With his own hands he inflicted injuries on his body. “This man must be terribly insane indeed”, you said. That’s ok, but may I ask – how many times have you done something that blurs your tomorrow? Oh my God, I feel as I am preaching to somebody today. Don’t worry; I have been in such a mess before. Jesus will fix it all.
Now get this message clean and clear. If you are able to read this magazine, you are far better than the made man of Gadarenes. Even though you have ignorantly caused your set backs, God is intervening in your affairs today.
The Bible is silent about the genesis of his problems. Probably he did not know and even his relatives might not know. Have you sometimes wonder about the genesis of some happenings in your life? Have you thought of the happenings in your family, business or place of work and you could not figure out the genesis nor the solutions; never worry much, a glance on Jesus will do the miracle.
Every problem that defied humanly proffered solutions bows at the feet of Jesus. Hallelujah! They tried to tame the mad man of Gadarenes yet to no avail. They bound him with fetters and chains and the demons broke them asunder. No man could come close to him because he was demonically empowered.
There are some people who do not take counsel. These people are so powerful in their wisdom and opinions about what they have determined to do. No body dare talks to them even though they are being wasted away. Such people are in the same pane as the mad man of Gadarenes. Do you understand what I mean? These people will never accept counsel until they have completely destroyed themselves. They are very strong in their destructive opinions just like the mad man. Have you ever taken some decisions that were against Godly counsel and latter regretted it? Thank God you were not totally destroyed! Jesus is coming your way right now and every lost opportunity will be restored.
May I speak to your destiny for a moment? Your moment of divine intervention will never be prolonged by a second longer than necessary in Jesus’ name. in fact as you go through this message, Christ is already intervening in all area of your affairs that needed His timely intervention – it could be in your health, finances, marriage, business or even ministry. Let there be divine visitation now in Jesus’ name.
The mad man’s day and moment of intervention was not delayed by the multitude of demons in him. I want you to understand that very will. Even though he was possessed by legion (six thousand demons), they could not withstand the presence of Jesus Christ. In the same vein, no amount of force put together by hell will be able to stop God from helping you to day. Every circumstance that has overwhelmed you must bow today in Jesus’ name. it is exciting to know that Satan cannot stop your furtherance in life. The only person that can stop you and mess your future up is YOU.
What an intervention in a shattered life? The Bible says “Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.” Verse 15. How did it happen? He obeyed and applied a divine principle though he was insane …
One principle stands out clearly in every case that attracts divine intervention and that is IDENTIFICATION WITH DEITY. Consider closely verse six of our text: “When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him.” In his devastated condition, the mad man identified Jesus and ran and worshipped Him. The demons in him recognized that Jesus is the Son of God. Oh yes! Satan knows that very well.
By worshipping Jesus, the mad man submitted himself to the lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is a principle that must be applied by every one that wants Jesus to intervene in his or her affairs. You must hand over your shattered life and dreams to Him. But most unfortunately today, a lot of people want the miracle without the Giver. It does not work like that. Do you need God’s intervention? Then I urge you to faithfully and sincerely submit your life to Jesus Christ. Accept Him as your personal Lord and Saviour. Hand over every thing that concerns you to Him. Call upon Him now in prayer and be rest assured, He cares.

Pray in this manner:
O Lord my God,
I have walked on my sinful path this long. Today I realize that I cannot help myself and therefore need your timely intervention. Forgive me my sins. Wash me clean in the precious blood of your Son Jesus Christ. Write my name in the Lamb’s book of life.
I ask that you take pre-eminence in all the affairs of my life from henceforth. Grant me the grace to run the race set before me.
Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. For in Jesus’ name, I prayed. Amen!

God bless you forever. We would love to hear from you. Tell us the wonderful things the good Lord has done in your life through this message.

NEWS IN AFRICA EXCELLENCE MERIT AWARD 2008

Chaplain Rev. Festus A. Ekenyere was one of those who received the News in Africa Excellence Merit Award 2008 in Abuja on August 6, 2008. It was a very beautiful occasion which took place at the Better Life Women Development Center conference hall, central business area, Garki, Abuja.
In a colourful ceremony, the recipients were called one after another and a short citation given on them before the presentation of a beautiful plaque and a certificate of merit. A kind of peace swept through the auditorium as Chaplain Festus (fully dressed in his Chaplain 2nd Commandant-General ceremonial uniform), was called and he stood tall on the podium for the reading of his citation. A Chaplain per excellence who has lived sacrificially for the less privileged in the society. One who does his work without any string attached. After a penetrating and insightful citation, he was presented with the beautiful plaque and a certificate of merit.
We present few of the photographs of the occasion here.

TESTIMONIES

I am a student of the University of Maiduguri. I just read your magazine this morning and I am really impressed. Silver or gold I don’t have, but in the name of Jesus you will cover Africa and the whole world.
Please I want to know the symptoms of kidney stone.
Thanks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you Joel for your prayers. Michael Pollick in essortment (information and advice you want to know) wrote extensively about the signs and symptoms of kidney stone and it is our pleasure to present his write up here:

Kidney stone signs and symptoms
Kidney stones attacks are extremely painful to endure and difficult to self-diagnose unless you know what symptoms to look for. Here are some signs and symptom s of kidney stone trouble.

Anyone who has ever had the misfortune of enduring a kidney stone attack will tell you exactly how painful this condition can be. In fact, the pain is most often compared with the pangs of natural childbirth. This is no exaggeration or wishful thinking. The stabbing and shooting pains that accompany a major kidney stone attack can bring you literally to your knees, unable to even drive yourself to proper medical attention. While major pain-killers such as Demerol can do wonders for the immediate discomfort, a victim of a kidney stone attack must still face days of intravenous fluid treatments and possible surgical intervention before getting substantial relief. A permanent change in diet and lifestyle is often required, and the patient still faces the chance of several reoccurrences over a lifetime. Prevention is the true key to avoiding serious kidney stone attacks, but heredity and gender are usually working against those who have a predisposition to kidney disease.
So what are the warning signs and symptoms of a kidney stone attack? It’s difficult to be specific, because you may experience any combination of some general symptoms. Some kidney stone sufferers may feel a dull, non-descript pain in their lower back for days, while others are suddenly crippled by extremely sharp pain. These symptoms and warning signs are intended to be a general layman’s guide to self-diagnosing a possible kidney stone attack, not a substitute for proper medical attention. If you feel pains that are unrelenting and strong, seek a doctor’s care as soon as possible. Don’t wait until the actual attack begins – a simple in-office urine test can usually diagnose a kidney stone condition long before the actual attack.
Here are the most common symptoms and warning signs of a kidney stone attack:

1. Medical history and gender. Although women are just as likely to develop kidney problems, the majority of kidney atone sufferers are men. Some researchers believe that a family history of kidney problems can significantly increase your own chances of developing kidney stones. Check out any known family medical history that indicates a predisposition to kidney stones. Forewarned can be forearmed. If you know that kidney stone attacks run in the family, make sure you use good preventive measures, such as increasing your non-sugared, non-caffeine fluid intake and avoiding excessive dairy consumption, especially at night. Never intentionally work your body into a state of severe dehydration, which may occur if you work long hours at a physically demanding job or spend too much time in the heat. Always take plenty of water breaks when working excessive hours. Those who are prone to kidney stone attacks should never be far from two things – a good water supply and a bathroom. Withholding urination for an extended amount of time will work against you in the long run.

2. Dull, ‘toothachy’ pain originating in the lower back or pelvis. This may be your first indication that something serious is developing.

3. Fever, disorientation, generally ‘blahs’. Along with this dull pain in the lower back, many victims experience a general sense of disorientation and fatigue. You may feel feverish or chilled. Your thought process may become cloudier, and your energy level dramatically lower. An actual fever may or may not be present, but you still experience the same nausea and grogginess you might associate with a serious cold or stomach bug. Walking becomes more and more difficult, and the pain makes everyday tasks nearly impossible. You may experience trouble reaching above your head, or recovering from a bent position.

4. Signs of blood in the urine. If you can, observe any urine you secrete during this time of distress. You may be able to see actual blood traces in the urine, or the urine itself may be an unusual color.
If your urine is a deep orange color, you are most likely dehydrated. Any blood in the urine is cause for alarm. In combination, dark-colored urine associated with sharp pains in the kidney region should be a red flag for you to seek help immediately. For less severe symptoms, you should dramatically increase your intake of water and/or cranberry juice. Make an appointment to see a doctor if this does not alleviate minor symptoms and you still notice unusual urine secretions.

5. Sharp, stabbing pains concentrated on one side of the lower back. If you start feeling sudden and severe pains that feel as if your abdomen was being cut open from the inside, you are most likely in the throws of a full-blown kidney stone attack. If your pain level beforehand was hovering around a 5 or 6, you’ll probably jump to a 9 or 10 in a hurry. You’ll want, no, demand immediate medical attention at this point. If you aren’t already sitting in a doctor’s office or in an emergency room, get to one immediately. This is the worst part for most kidney stone victims, even more painful than the eventual passing of the stone itself. Without the benefit of painkilling drugs such as Demerol, you’ll feel a constant and radiating pain coming from your lower back and progressing through your abdomen. Many victims double over from the pain, or find very unusual positions that will ease their discomfort. Some find that lying on the floor is helpful,. Or sitting upside down in a chair. Once you have received a painkiller, however, the symptoms tend to become much more manageable.
So what should you expect from a course of treatment? Your first day in the hospital will be filled with urine tests and possible x-rays. The urine test will confirm the presence of blood, which will indicate a possible kidney blockage. The x-rays will pinpoint the location of the stones and their relative size. More than likely, you will be given intravenous fluids to restore your hydration level, and your diet will be restricted to non-dairy foods and non-caffeinated liquids. After a day or two of bedrest and fluids, your doctor will recommend several courses of action, depending on your individual test results. Many kidney stones are eliminated naturally, following a few days of increased fluid intake. The patient usually experiences an immediate feeling of relief as the stones, usually the size of tomato seeds, pass through the urinary tract, others are not quite as fortunate. The doctor may advise the use of a sonic ‘crushing’ device that will blast the stones into manageable pieces. This treatment can leave you feeling as if you have been in a prize fight or two, but is relatively non-invasive. The final option could be surgery, where a catheter is introduced through the urethra and a hook device actually snares and removes the blockage physically. It is every bit as intrusive and exciting as it sounds. Rarely an open surgery is required to physically extract the stones through a small incision.

From the Publisher:
Are you going through any of the pains described above? Have you been already diagnosed to have kidney stone? Don’t panic, the stripes of Jesus healed all manner of sicknesses and diseases. I command you to receive your healing now in Jesus’ name. It is settled. Rejoice in the victory of Jesus Christ.

From Sister Margaret Peters

I want to thank God for the life of my Rev. Festus Ekenyere. I remembered last two years when we came newly to our new estate; I worshipped in a nearby church. My mother and I went to the church we used to worship but before we entered I heard the sound of music and was carried away by the praises. Later I discovered that the praises was going on in The Faith Builders Auditorium where Rev. Festus is the Senior Pastor. That day, I went in and worshipped with them. I cannot remember vividly the topic of the pastor’s sermon that day, but one remarkable thing that happened to me that day was after the message, Rev. Festus came down from the altar, held my hands and told me most of the happenings in my life. That day I was heavily burdened and have been asking God series of questions. But the burden of my heart was lifted up as Rev. Festus, inspired by the Holy Spirit, told me every thing that was going on in my life and prayed for the peace of God to dwell in my life. I was surprised because I felt the peace of God instantly. From that day I know that God is in the auditorium therefore I decided to make my place of worship.
God has used the Rev. to make me what I am today, remaining a month for me to graduate from the university, I believe after service I will get a good job; my life is presently filled with goodness and love of God. Thank God once again for the life of my papa!
On behalf of the choir we are really inspired by the living word of life that comes everyday from the mouth of our Rev. He made us to understand that the things of this world is vanity upon vanity. He made us to understand also that only through righteousness we can have eternal life. He has been the choir’s source of encouragement. His is the man that made us what we are today after sharing a little word with us on commitment. He is our mentor and father.
His wife, Pastor Mrs. Glad Ekenyere is also a lovely mother to us. We appreciate her love and prayers. God bless you and strengthen you in Jesus name.

Age long eye problem solved by Jesus Christ.

I am giving this testimony to the glory of God and the shame of the devil. It is meant to lift up your faith and to understand that there is nothing God cannot do.

My names are Chika Onyia. I am a native of Ama Okwe in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State. I am 26 years old.
I used to have complicated eye problem which started when I was 3 years old. My parents told me that both eyes started being red and very painful then. They took me to hospital in Enugu but there was no solution. Since then I have been going from one eye hospital to another to no avail. The doctors always say that I will outgrow the problem yet at 26 I was not seeing normally.
This problem has deprived me of so many things in my life. My education has been badly affected since I cannot read. I managed to finish my secondary education after which the condition became worst.

I gained admission to read accountancy in I.M.T. Enugu but found it difficult to cope. Later I gained admission into Federal Poly Mubi in 2007. I started with others but the day we started class work I discovered that I could not see even the black board. I was frustrated and so I left the school. This situation has made me to think of so many evil against myself. Sometimes I felt like committing suicide but for God yet I preferred death to life for nothing gives me joy on earth.

In recent years I started noticing some whitish substance in my eyes and I was taken to Parklane Enuge and the doctor I injured myself due to itching of the eyes. I was given some drugs yet to no avail. I went to ECWA Eye Clinic Kano but just like every other place I have been, there was little or no help from there. One major thing that all these doctors say is that the medication given to me has been working for others. This also made me uncomfortable.

The long story was cut short in the 2nd week of September 2008 in Maiduguri. I went to Maiduguri in order to see if I can go back to school not knowing that God had another thing in mind for me. On that fateful day, I went to play with my friend at 202 housing estate and suddenly heard the sound of music from some meters away. I decided to trace the place so I could worship with them. While going, I passed through a church wherein the people were praying and I was almost tempted to go in there but my spirit still insisted I should go to the place I first heard the sound of praises. So I moved on.

I got to the church (The Faith Builders Auditorium) at last not knowing they were in for a revival. The message that evening touched my heart. The Pastor taught on Rapture and the Great Tribulation. After the message, he asked a question and said, “if you are here and you are sure that if Christ comes now you will not make heaven, stand on your feet”. So many people stood while others sat. To me, I know very well that I am not going to go to heaven so I stood. The Pastor led us to Christ and prayed for us. Right from that moment something happened in my life, my eyes became healed; I began to experience a kind of joy I have never experienced in my life.

On the following Friday, I came to church for the prayer meeting and when Mummy was teaching on prayer, I decided to drop my eye glasses, to my surprise I read my Bible. On Saturday morning, I read my Bible. I am healed. Just like that? I believe in Jesus! I have unquenchable joy now. I am free! I am saved! I am happy.

Chika Onyia
